No binding. Postcard measuring 15 x 10.5 cm (5.9 x 4.13"), rubber-stamped in black at recto and printed in black at verso. Artists' postcard by J. H. Kocman with a declarative statement about his artists' rubber stamp activities that reads, "Sorry, I make stamps never more! JHK, 1978." A charming example of Kocman's conceptual demeanor, published by Aart van Barneveld at Stempelplaats, who also issued and edited the artists' magazine 'Rubber, A Monthly Bulletin on the Use of Rubberstamps in the Arts,' in which the same rubber stamp appears in blue ink in Vol. 1 No. 10, published October 1978. Here, Kocman's stamp is accompanied by a printed note at the bottom of the page that reads, "post-scriptum: my stamp activities remain in my nostalgic memories as a time of 'breezy' creativity. in the year 1975 i have finished my rubber stamp activities with the 'last art stamp' since this time i make stamps never more. jhk, july 1978." Of course, Kocman had to have the last word, creating another rubber stamp to mark the end of his stamp-making activities. Artifact Vibration Standard Score: 8.3. Rubber Stamps was a monthly bulletin of rubber stamp works, volume 1 #10 focuses on J H Kocman, providing a biography, listings of exhibitions, stamp techniques, stamp activity as well as a chronological list of all stamps the artist ever made, from 1970 - 1978. The edition includes a blue rubber stamp print of the final stamp by the artist, which reads 'Sorry, I make stamps never more! JHK, 1978'. Condition: near fine, minor toning to edge of internal sheet.

Some indenting to the wraps from the card inserts in front and back. Some minor rubbing to covers and some corner wear, as well as a crease to the bottom of one page towards the back but otherwise a lovely copy, now in mylar.

Pages rubber-stamped at rectos in blue, black, red, or green on cream-colored stock. Unpaginated [26 pp.]. Initialed and dated by the artist in black ink at front endpaper and again in red ink at one of the interior pages. Artists' book by J. H. Kocman featuring a collection of twenty-six rubber stamp activities pondering the artist's role and purpose. According to Géza Perneczky's two comprehensive anthologies on artists' stamps and assembling magazines, Kocman had the idea to ask his artist friends to mail him rubber stamps, and that the contributions he received in return would subsequently be used to create artists' books such as these. Perneczky goes on to state that Kocman only created artists' rubber stamps for approximately four years, beginning in 1970, but stopped his activities once he realized it had become a fashionable form of expression among artists.
