In a certain sense it represents a contin uation of two former books on the Central Interaction Between Respiratory and Cardiovascular Control Systems 1 and on Neurovegetative Control Systems: Basic 2 Function, Integration and Disorders , but explicitly includes the relationship with motor control. Auf diesem Gebiet sind in den letzten Jahren aus physiologischen Untersuchungen zwei verschiedene Ansatzpunkte ent wickelt worden, die Folgerungen auch fUr die Klinik der Kreislaufregulations storungen haben. Es handelt sich einmal um die Feststellung und die Ordnung der im Kreislauf anzutreffenden Rhythmen, zum anderen um die regeltheoretische Interpretation der 'reflektorischen Selbststeuerung' des Kreislaufs. Ein Gesprach zwischen den Vertretern beider Arbeitsrichtungen erschien uns erwiinscht, weil eine Begegnung zur gemeinsamen Diskussion der beiden Betrachtungsweisen bisher noch nicht erfolgt war. Neuere Untersuchungen bei Tier und Mensch haben die rhythmischen Vor gange, welche sich im Kreislauf auswirken, als eine Grundform der 'Ruhe aktivitat' von Zentren und peripheren Receptoren erkennen lassen. Die Kreislauf regulation bildet deshalb einen Modellfall fUr die Erorterung der Beziehungen zwischen einer regeltheoretisch zu interpretierenden Konstanthaltung von ZustandsgroBen und einer spontanen zentralnervosen Aktivitat. Uber das spezielle Gebiet der Kreislaufregulation hinaus entsteht aus der Gegeniiberstellung von rhythmischer Spontanaktivitat und automatischer Rege lung ein allgemeines biologisches und medizinisches Problem.…
