To what extent do these determine the quality of democracy, democratisation, and de democratisation? - In what forms of political participation does the population engage and what political participation behaviour does it exhibit? Jahrhunderts war Leopold Kozeluch (17471818) vor allem als Komponist, Pianist und Klavierlehrer bekannt. Im historischen Kontext zeigt sich an seinen 50 Klaviersonaten nicht nur der Übergang vom Cembalo- oder Clavichord- zum Pianofortespiel, sondern auch die Entwicklung der klassischen Sonate" gegen Ende des 18. und an der Wende zum 19. Jahrhundert (17731809).

Seine Werke zeichneten sich durch Munterkeit und Grazie, die edelste Melodie mit der reinsten Harmonie und gefälligsten Ordnung in Absicht der Rhythmik und Modulation" aus. Doch gab es bis heute kaum Gelegenheit, die Sonaten Koeluchs kennenzulernen, da nur wenige moderne Ausgaben zu Verfügung standen. Die neue Edition von Christopher Hogwood präsentiert zum ersten Mal Koeluchs Sonaten für Clavier solo insgesamt. Jeder der vier Bände enthält 12 bis 13 Sonaten, die chronologisch nach dem Datum des Erstdrucks geordnet sind. Der vierte Band wird dann die Sonaten enthalten, die in handschriftlichen Quellen überliefert sind.

Die Widmung ist adressiert an den Photographen Charles Rhein, der als Chefphotograph der Firma Gevaert in Belgien tätig war und darüber hinaus Hofphotograph des Belgischen Königshauses sowie Portraitphotograph von vielen Künstlern. Von diesen erhielt er oftmals freundschaftliche Widmungen, so ist in diesem Falle die Bezeichnung "Papa Rhein" wohl als Ausdruck für eine väterlich-freundschaftliche Beziehung zu verstehen. - Aus dem Nachlaß von Charles Rhein.
