Hardcover. Condizione: Used - Very Good. 'Joyce Kozloff: Co-Ordinates' considers the New York-based artist's paintings and works on paper--which employ the formal structure and conventions of cartography to examine issues of power, gender and global politics--from the late 1990s to the present. This is the first book to consider Kozloff's work since the late 1990s within the broader context of her career and the history of map-related art. Charting her influential contribution to the Pattern and Decoration movement--which was an integral part of the downtown New York art scene of the 1970s--the volume also explores Kozloff's later, large-scale public artworks. Fifty full-color photo spreads are dedicated to key projects--'Targets,' 'Boys' Art,' 'American History' and 'Voyages'--and accompanied by an essay by critic Nancy Princenthal and an interview with the artist.Joyce Kozloff is a founding member of the Pattern and Decoration movement and the 'Heresies' collective and is a primary figure in the feminist art world. Edited by Phillip Earenfight. Text by Nancy Princenthal, Phillip Earenfight.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Oblong 4o foldout pamphlet printed on stiff card with large color illustrations. Clean, unmarked. Being an oversize invitation advertising the opening of "Mapping Public and Private" at Midtown Payson Galleries, 1995, by feminist artist and founding member of Heresies Magazine Joyce Kozloff. This exhibition would have come fairly early in Kozloff's aesthetic pivot to making cartographically inspired artworks after having worked since its inception within the Pattern and Decoration movement. A brief essay printed on the rear face explains that Kozloff "recycled fragments of her past art into obsessive borders, which read as film strips or running commentaries. In the process of depiction, she became acutely aware of how migrations, wars, and colonization had left their mark in naming and giving character to centers of civic life". Card in very good condition, with minor scuff to rear face's forecorner and very light rubbing. Corners bumped tinily. An attractive, rare bit of ephemera from a critical time in Kozloff's career.
