Alle Werke des berühmten Bachschülers Johann Ludwig Krebs (17131780) wissenschaftlich systematisiert Wenn heute von dem Schülerkreis um Johann Sebastian Bach die Rede ist, dann nimmt Johann Ludwig Krebs eine gewisse Schlüsselposition ein. Abgesehen von den Bachsöhnen ist dieser Musiker in der Tat einer der begabtesten Eleven Bachs. Der vielzitierte Ausspruch, den angeblich Bach getan haben soll, unterstreicht die Sonderstellung von Krebs im Schülerkreis des ThomaskantorsUnser Krebs war bekanntlich einer der besten Schüler von Johann Sebastian Bach, deswegen man bey uns sich mit dem Wortspiel trugIn diesem großen Bach sey nur ein einziger Krebs gefangen worden. Bereits zu seinen Lebzeiten galt Krebs als ein außergewöhnlicher Organist mit virtuosen Fähigkeiten. Aber auch mit seinen Kompositionen erregte er einiges Aufsehen. Felix Friedrich, als Altenburger Schloßorganist einer der Amtsnachfolger von Krebs, hat sich der Aufgabe angenommen, Krebs musikalische Werke in einem Verzeichnis zu systematisieren und damit erstmalig in ihrer Gesamtheit zu präsentieren. In insgesamt neun Kategorien stellt Friedrich die etwa 230 heute bekannten Krebs-Kompositionen vor, wobei er sich bei der Struktur der Einzeleinträge in quasi logischer Weise an das Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis anlehnt.
