Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Maurice Godé s'est fait tout d'abord connaître par sa thèse d'Etat portant sur les « théories utopiques dans les revues expressionnistes allemandes » (Prix Strasbourg 1987), qui lui a fait découvrir le phénomène de modernité littéraire qu'il n'a cessé d'interroger par la suite. Le présent volume, qu'amis, collègues et élèves lui offrent en hommage réunit des études qui explorent cette même thématique. Il présente diverses formes de la modernité dans la littérature du XXe siècle, mais aussi dans les arts, danse et peinture notamment, éclaire les liens entre la littérature et une société en constante mutation, étudie des idées et des faits historiques qui marquèrent le siècle. Il souligne par ailleurs la richesse et la complexité des relations franco-allemandes durant cette période mouvementée.
