Zumeist mußte dabei aus Gründen der Kompatibilität der kleinste gemeinsame Nenner für einen Standard gefunden werden.SyncML soll diese Problematik lösen. Dieser neue offene Standard soll bestehende Synchronisationsstandards erweitern und den Austausch beliebiger Daten zwischen beliebigen Endgeräten ermöglichen.
