Philips Gloeilampen-fabrieken, Eindhoven, Netherlands, during the past five years. It does not pretend to be a complete presentation of the present knowledge regarding the phenomenon of luminescence in solids, nor does it give a general survey. It contains some hitherto unpublished experimental results together with theoretical considerations of certain aspects of this field of science. In the first chapter a brief consideration is given of the energy levels in pure and perturbed crystals In four further chapters new experimental results are reported concerning come particular luminescent systems, viz., tungstates, molybdates and luminophors activated by manganese, titanium and uranium. In the sixth and final chapter the influence of the temperature on the efficiency of luminescence has been considered.". First Edition. Hardcover. Good EX-LIBRARY/No jacket. 8vo. xi, 310pp.
