Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. I was unable to find a copy of this book for sale on the Internet. This is a Stated First Printing. A soft cover, I suspect there may not have been a hardcover published. This book is signed by the author and inscribed to 'Rhoda and Sidney, in deep friendship'. Rhoda and Sidney are the Soloways, Sidney was a biophysicist out of Harvard. From the back cover of the book a review by an author named Harold Jaffe: 'The Underground Woman is as much memoir as fiction, more rhetorical than dramatic, equal parts comic and tragic-pathetic. Jill, the narrator-protagonist, is a sixtyish Jewish woman: passionate, intellectual, wife and mother, who suffers unabashedly for her own complex needs and for the out-of-joint world she inhabits. Like Dostoyevsky's prototype, Krummel's Underground Woman is, finally, an unapologetic rant on behalf of the crestfallen; it succeeds admirably'. 104 pages. Signed and inscribed on the title page. There is no other writing/underlining, etc., on any of the pages. I didn't see any soiling. It's rated only Good because there is dried glue between the inside front cover and the half title page, which is the first page of the book, and also at the top of the half-title page. I really don't know whether the book was produced like this or whether there was some repair done. Either way, there it is. There is also a light crease or two on the front cover, and a bump to the book has created a tiny crease or indentation at the middle top edge of all the pages. It does not reach the text and is quite insignificant, but still visible. Lastly the front cover isn't lying flat, perhaps making the case for a repair. The picture you see will flattens it out as it is pressed against the scanner. It's not a big deal, and the book actually looks quite good, as the photographs will show. So if you have a real interest in reading this and owning this rare and signed book you shouldn't think that you'd be getting something that looks grubby. That's not the case. I am lowering the asking price by $15 from my original intention due to the dried glue, and the possibility of a missing blank front free end paper. There is a rear blank end paper. I'll show you a photo of the inside cover/FFEP though I'm not sure what it will show. Inscribed by Author(s).
