Soft cover. Condizione: Good. See photos for condition details. Softcover in original stiff wraps with pastedowns. Reported to only have a printing limited to 3000 copies, this edition shows a stamped name of the original owner written in Russian: L. N. Gugel (Lev Nikolaevich Gugel) along with two signatures - one being at the top of the front cover and one being to the left of the Gugel stamped name. We were unable to match up the second signature belong to. This book was part of the personal collection of Donald H. Mugridge: a noted historian, strong chess player, author, and a specialist in American history in the General Reference and Bibliography Division of the Library of Congress. Although his name is not written in the book there are various pages, mostly in the front half, that have small annotations written in pencil which are in Donald Mugridges's handwriting, along with red check marks which is also something he did in many of books on chess matches. The condition of the book shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Edges are bumped and chipped and the rear cover has a line mark near the upper left corner where the price is printed. Internal binding is good but there is pulling at pages 24/25 where the under backing is showing and spotting is present throughout. The book itself is in Russian although the title page and text is parallel and in Russian and German. There is foxing and spotting and the handwritten notes that appear on some of the pages are in English. A scarce book with a unique history.
