Theil 7.- "Infolge ihrer Drehung mußte der Sonne eine Abplattung zuko…mmen. B. von Lindenau glaubte aus seinen Messungen eine Veränderlichkeit des Sonnendurchmessers nachweisen zu können. Auwers hatte jedoch auf Grund einer Untersuchung von 30.000 Beobachtungen diese Behauptung nicht bestätigen können. Während die älteren Beobachtungsreihen keine Andeutung einer Abplattung ergaben, dagegen die Heliometerbeobachtungen von 1874 und 1882 eine sehr kleine Abplattung anzudeuten schienen, ließ sich aus der von Schur und Ambronn von 1892-1902 mit einem Umkehrprisma angestellten Heliometermessungen keine Abplattung nachweisen; zu demselben Ergebnis kam Hayn 1924 auf Grund von Sonnenaufnahmen.
