Many firms have meanwhile implemented large Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems - sometimes already developed to global logistic networks. This book reflects major trends of the recent decade in SCM and, additionally, presents ideas and visions for logistic networks of the 21st century from a strictly scientific point of view. Though the book deals with quite a lot of different perspectives on the same pr- lem, namely how to efficiently and effectively establish elements of a supply chain, it stresses one essential figure of SCM: closing the loop of a supply chain by integrating waste materials into logistic management decisions. Reverse log- tics has gained central importance caused by sustainable developments in society and legislation in the past. The book is based on the premise that economic and political decision makers can no longer afford to ignore the ecological issues of logistics. Many excellent researchers from several fields of logistics have contributed to this book. Most of them have been involved in the major developments of SCM me- ods and concepts during recent years. Dies gilt auch und gerade für die Strukturierung des betrieblichen In formationssystems der Kosten- und Leistungsrechnung, da die Qualität dieses Informationssystems eine bedeutende Determi nante des Erfolgspotentials einer Unternehmung darstellt. In der vorliegenden Arbeit hat der Verfasser den Einfluß technologischer Entwicklungen auf die Ausgestaltung des Kosten- und Leistungsrechnungssystems unter zwei grundsätz lichen Aspekten untersucht. Der erste Aspekt betrifft die Frage, inwieweit aufgrund neuer Methoden bzw. Instrumente der EDV bisherige Vereinfachungen des Kosten- und Leistungsrech nungssystems entfallen bzw. noch bestehende Restriktionen entschärft werden können, um die Qualität und die Akzeptanz des Kostenrechnungssystems zu verbessern. Der zweite Aspekt bezieht sich auf den Problembereich, inwieweit strukturelle Anpassungen des Kosten- und Leistungsrechnungssystems an eine durch technologische Entwicklungen ausgelöste Erweiterung des Aufgabenspektrums notwendig sind und wie diese Anpassungen konkret realisiert werden sollen. Ausgangspunkt der zahlrei chen Gestaltungsempfehlungen ist ein vom Autor in umfassender Weise (formal) definiertes System der flexiblen Plankosten rechnung. Für dieses System werden Komplexitätsfunktionen ab gleitet, die von den herausgearbeiteten, die Systemgröße cha rakterisierenden Systempara-metern abhängig sind. Die Arbeit stellt eine bemerkenswerte, EDV-orientierte Wei terentwicklung der flexiblen Plankostenrechnung dar. Es geht bei der Just-in-Time-Produktion somit, pointiert formuliert, um die Problemstellung: Wie beherrsche ich die Kunst, stets zuverlässig, kostengünstig und schnell in 'letzter Minute' zu produzieren bzw. wie müssen die Rahmenbedingungen beschaffen sein, damit eine derartige Strategie erfolgreich sein kann. Das die Just-in-Time-Philosophie widerspiegelnde Motto 'Stets in letzter Minute' ist keine dem menschlichen Wesen fremde Vorgehensphilosphie. Im Gegenteil, scheint sie häufig, wie lebenspraktische Beispiele immer wieder belegen, erheb liche Kräfte zu wecken und Energien freizusetzen.
