This 30 something, artist received a BFA at the art institute of Chicago in 1995, but it seems he takes as much inspiration from street art, graffiti culture and television as he does from his formal education. In his diverse career that spans over a decade Dalek has worked as an assistant to Takashi Murakami, studied art and biology, and exhibited widely. His artwork has been shown at London's Apart Gallery, A life in New York, and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Washington DC, to name just a few. This overview of their first exhibition includes photographs by leading figures including Alfred Stieglitz, James Craig Annan and Rudolf Eickemeyer Jr, and numerous others. Printers incluce L'Imprimerie Chaix, Georges Petit Gallery (supplied, of Paris), T. Fillon/LeMercier & Cie (Paris), Richard Paulussen (Vienna), James Craig Annan (Glasgow), Paul Dujardin (Paris), J. Blechinger (Austria).t69 of the photographers accepted for this first exposition were from France but the material included was highly international. There were 30 photographers from Great Britain including Scotland and the Isle of Wight; Austria had 17 followed by Belgium and Holland with ten. Nine were from America: including Emilie Clarkson, John Bullock, John Dumont, Rudolph Eickemeyer, Emma Farnsworth, Clarence Moore, William Post, Robert Redfield and Alfred Stieglitz. There are two (different) plate No. XV, as well as plates XXXV no. 1 and XXXV no. 2, numbering of plates ends at XC. This is as original and authentic as you are liekly to find for this title. The plates, which are said to frequently be present in a separate volume, are here bound-in at the rear of the book. The bookplate and signature are those of James Dalliba, a West Poiunt graduate of 1811 who served in the Army in various capacities and campaigns until he retired in 1824, when he went into the iron business at the age of about 39 with a fellow named John Dickerson. Although appearing rough, this copy is tight, lightly foxed and overall in lovely original condition. And rare in any condition, especially with aall the plates present. All references found refer to the volume as having 41 plates, no mention is made of two different plate No. 15. No copies found for sale or at auction of this edition, with or without plates.
