Argentine Literature continues to figure prominently in academic programs in the English-speaking world, and it has an increasing presence in English translation in international prizes and trade journals. A History of Argentine Literature proposes a major reimagining of Argentine literature attentive to production in indigenous and migration languages and to current debates in Literary Studies. Panoramic in scope and incisive in its in-depth studies of authors, works, and theoretical problems, this volume builds on available scholarship on canonical works but opens up the field to include a more diverse rendering as well as engaging with the full spectrum of textual interventions from travel writing to drama, from popular 'gauchesca' to celebrated avant guard works Working at the crossroads of disciplines, languages and critical traditions, this book accounts for the wealth of Argentine cultural production and maps the rich, diverse and often overlooked history of Argentine literature.

Collaborators : Jorge Saenz, Jorge Aulicino, Roberto Echavarren, Pablo Bardauil, Mirta Valera, Among others. Milpalabras. Literature and Arts in a Magazine published five quarterly issues between spring 2001 and fall 2003 in Buenos Aires. Its management team consisted of Marcelo Cohen, Graciela Speranza, Alejandra Laera, Gonzalo Aguilar, andfor the first two issuesMartín Kohan. The magazine was also worked on by Ariana Jenik and Eduardo Rey (design), Alejandra López (photography), Víctor Grippo (photography), Silvina Cucchi and Constanza Penacini (editing), and Germán Conde (management). The magazine aimed to trace the intersections and dialogues between different art forms, conceived from and for the present: literature, music, film, photography, and architecture. From this quest come its titleThe image, says its first editorial, is worth no more here than the wordand its sections: Music, Literature, Film, and Art. In addition to the management team, contributors included Jorge Aulicino, Roberto Echavarren, Daniel García Helder, Damián Tabarovsky, Ernesto Livon-Grosman, Carlos Sampayo, Esteban Buch, Graciela Montaldo, Matías Serra Bradford, Mirta Varela, Anna Kazumi Stahl, Jorge Monteleone, Reinaldo José Laddaga, Andrés Di Tella, and others. The journal included translations, interviews, and photographs of works by contemporary artists such as Jorge Sáenz, Santiago Sierra, Guillermo Kuitca, and Lynne Cooke. The convergence of the arts is the magazine's source for reflection on the present and the updating of questions about the new. The objective was to vindicate emerging and young art as a way of thinking about the present, overcoming inherited critical categories that anchored it in the past. To critically reflect on the present, the journal adopted an essay-like tone, distinct from academic discourse, especially in the "Burrillo" section, beginning with the third issue. Milpalabras was published until 2003: while part of the team withdrew from the project, the other part moved to Otra Parte, a magazine founded by Graciela Speranza and Marcelo Cohen that continuedwith some differencesthe editorial line of Milpalabras. Otra Parte had an initial print run, consisting of thirty issues, and continues to this day in digital format. Tarcus 129. Codz.
