Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a novel approach to calculating the tension and resistance forces acting on a heavy, flexible cable used to tow a float behind a ship. The author develops mathematical expressions and numerical solutions applicable to scenarios where the cable is concave upwards and frictional resistance cannot be overlooked. By introducing simplifying assumptions regarding the components of force acting on the cable, the author derives equations that can be used to calculate the tension at different points along the cable. The book also provides a methodology for determining cable resistance and discusses the implications of these findings for understanding the behavior of towed floats. Overall, this book offers valuable insights into the mechanics of cable towing systems and will be of interest to engineers and researchers working in the field of marine hydrodynamics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
