Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fair. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. This is a rare book. I found only one other for sale on the Internet. Mine will be the Only copy with its dust jacket. From the jacket: 'This is the true story of Lee Lane's twenty-seven year marriage to one of the most brilliant surgeons in the country, a marriage abruptly ended by his death. He died in open-heart surgery, the very operation he himself worked to perfect. Being the wife of an ambitious, fiercely energetic-- and charming-- man such as Zeph Lane meant coping with their life and their seven children virtually alone, while he pursued that 'distant star.' It meant moving the family across the country alone; driving to the hospital and giving birth without her husband; running a nursery school while caring for her own ever-increasing family, so the bills could be paid while Zepf trained in yet another specialty.' You can see the covers of the book in the photos. There's just a slight bit of toning or soiling off the middle edges. The blue, orange and yellow lettering on the spine is still nicely bright. The cover edges are in excellent shape. The cover corners look very good. The page edges are mostly clean, a few dust freckles on the top one, two little light spots on the bottom one. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I haven't found any soiling. The top corners of two consecutive pages were produced a little long, so the previous owner folded the tips of the corners in. I didn't see any other imperfections on any of the other pages. I didn't see any creasing. There aren't any markings. The previous owner, Dorothy Webb, neatly penned her name off the top edge of the blank front end paper. That's the only writing to be found anywhere in the book. The dust jacket is rated only Fair. There is loss at both spine ends, and there is a tear at the juncture between the rear cover and spine coming down from the top edge. The spine is toned to tan. The jacket doesn't have any conspicuous soiling. The flaps are in decent shape, just a tiny bit of wear (crinkling) at a couple of the edges. There are two very thin creases on the rear flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped. I have it in a fitted protective cover.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. The image of a tortured genius working in near isolation has long dominated our conceptions of the artist's studio. Examples are abound: think Jackson Pollock dripping resin on a cicada carcass in his shed in the Hamptons. But times have changed; ever since Andy Warhol declared his art space a 'factory', artists have begun to envision themselves as the leaders of production teams, and their sense of what it means to be in the studio has altered just as dramatically as their practices. "The Studio Reader" pulls back the curtain from the art world to reveal the real activities behind artistic production. What does it mean to be in the studio? What is the space of the studio in the artist's practice? How do studios help artists envision their agency and, beyond that, their own lives? This forward-thinking anthology features an all-star array of contributors, ranging from Svetlana Alpers, Bruce Nauman, and Robert Storr to Daniel Buren, Carolee Schneemann, and Buzz Spector, each of whom locates the studio both spatially and conceptually - at the center of an art world that careens across institutions, markets, and disciplines.A companion for anyone engaged with the spectacular sites of art at its making, "The Studio Reader" reconsiders this crucial space as an actual way of being that illuminates our understanding of both artists and the world they inhabit.
