First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Presentation copy, signed and inscribed in red ink by illustrator Eugene Berman with an original drawing on half title: 'To Karen Leong with many thanks and love E.B. 19 61 Roma May 27, 1961.' The drawing, in the same color and stle as the illustrations Berman made for the book, is of a festival masque with eyes surrounded by rays like that of the sun. Karen Leong was the wife of noted Chinese-American artist James Leong, who was a close friend of Berman.
