Spine ends are a little crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Slight forward lean to text block.

Hardcover: H 16cm x L 11.75cm. Dust jacket toned and soiled; moisture stain at front panel's top margin; shallow chipping and tears at edges; front flap is not price-clipped. Tan cloth; front board decorated with woodblock-style b/w pictorial paper paste-on and reddish-brown lettering. Red floral patterned endpapers. Tipped-in b/w portrait image of Beatrix Potter as frontispiece; five b/w illustrations by J.J. Lankes; introductory essay "The Story of This Story" by Bertha E. Mahony who was the founder of The Horn Book Magazine and started The Horn Book, Inc. publishing company. Slight toning to interior leaves but otherwise clean. Binding is firm.

Some light foxing to covers but still a near fine copy in the pictorial d/w, which is faded on the spine and has chipping to the top of the spine and some light wear to the upper edge of the front panel but is certainly better than very good of Lankes book on the technique and art of the woodcut.
