A good to very good copy with all wear being external - corner bumps and crimping at the spine tips, minor scuffing to the cloth and a pencilled X at the textblock edges. Interior is clean, solid, and unmarked other than the ghosting of a price erasure at the top of the endpaper. Dustjacket is good only with a tear at the bottom of the rear fold, and chips and ruffling along the panel edges, still bright and attractive. 382 pp., indexed, and photos throughtout, with chapters on the Rogue, Umpqua, Coos, Millicoma, Coquille, Chetco, Pistol, Elk, Sixes and Winchuck rivers along with other regional waterways. A companion volume to Lansing's "It takes a river to make a fish." Oversize and overweight - will require additional postage for expedited or international orders.

Like most baby boomers, not much was ever relayed about their parents' history. So he decided to remedy that for his future descendants. The book starts out with his parents' courtship in 1920s and connects the narrative memories from 1946 with personal photos in a chronological manner until 1969. Many of the stories are funny, as Bill writes with passion and humor. The title comes from three general sources: growing up with horses, beginning at age six; hating the bandy chickens his mother coveted; and Bill's passion for baseball. These three topics anchor the flow of the book.
