orig.wrappers Spine faded. Bookplate. Minor rubbing. VG. 19x12cm, 124 pp, Text entirelt in Esperanto. Writings on nationalism by the founder of the Anational Movement. "After the war [Lanti] joined the Labor Esperanto Movement, but his hatred of nationalism in any form led him to found the Sennacieco Asocio Tutmonda (World Non-N…ational Movement), dedicated to the liberation of the working class, the eradication of national boundaries, and the use of Esperanto as a means in this struggle. Lanti was also instrumental in establishing the anationalist tendency in SAT, anationalism being a radical anti- nationalist doctrine on world citizenship, which strictly rejects participation in national struggles on the part of the proletariat" - Encyclopedia of Marxism. ["..Lanti was an Esperantist, socialist and writer. He was a founder of Sennacieca Asocio Tutmonda, and a long time editor of the internationalist socialist magazine Sennaciulo. Lanti was a critic of Stalinism. [..] In the 1920s Lanti lived in Paris with Ellen Kate Limouzin, the aunt of George Orwell. Orwell visited the couple and suffered as a non-speaker of Esperanto, and developed a strong dislike for the language [..] In his youth Lanti had been attracted to anarchism, but in 1920 he finally abandoned anarchism and became a founding member of the French Communist Party. In 1921 in Prague he was the initiator and de facto leader of Sennacieca Asocio Tutmonda (SAT), a broad-based Esperanto- speaking organisation (containing Communists, Social Democrats and anarchists) which did not organise along national lines. In 1933 Lanti, wounded by personal attacks and criticisms of his leadership, left his position of president of the Central Committee of SAT" - wikipedia]. Spine faded. Bookplate. Minor rubbing. VG.

First English edition. First English edition of Eugène Lanti's (1879 - 1947) Anationalist manifesto, originally published in Esperanto in 1931. This edition translated by L. Barbedette and printed by union labor in Brussels by Les Arts Graphique societé coopérative. Lanti introduced this work as the founder of the Sennacieca Aso…cio Tutmonda (SAT) to the world, rejecting borders and patriotism under the social framework of non-nationalism to reinforce the worker's Esperanto movement and the humanist vision of technology supporting a future sense of reason in labor. His leftist sentiments are anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist, promoting a labor organization that manages natural resources with more consideration of societies and communities in need rather than focal points of exploitation. He presents a Marxist critique of current systems with a vision of industry for which the art and skill of laborers could be centered in the formation of an anational Earth. Prior to drafting this Manifesto and during his time as an SAT leader, Lanti edited the socialist, esperantist magazines, Sennaciulo and Liberiga Stelo. In 1933, he left his position of leadership in the SAT to focus more on editorial work and lexicographical writing with Herezulo and an Esperantist dictionary, respectively. OCLC locates only four copies of this first English edition. Very good condition, some minor creasing and wear to wraps, blue colored pencil writing to upper cover, else clean contents and nice copy. Saddle-stapled octavo (4-3/4 x 6-5/8 inches) in printed wraps, [1], 31, [1] pp.
