Also laid-in (as published) is a photograph of the Wisconsin State Historical Society's copy of the original edition. The book is in Very Good condition with original brown cloth covers (with stamped designs) and gold lettering on the spine. The pages are all clean with no chips or tears - the pages show some occasional foxing and the prior owner signed their name on the first endpaper. The binding is strong and solid with all pages and the covers firmly attached. The covers show a hint of edgewear - no other signs age. Lapham [1811-1875] arrived at what was to become the city of Milwaukee in 1836, and this is the second edition of the first significant treatment of the geography of Wisconsin. Lapham went on to study the Indian Mounds of Wisconsin, and was instrumental in helping to create the U.S. Weather Service. No marks in book, binding tight. Light foxing to end papers.
