The book includes a county by county summary and history of Wisconsin back in the 1840s. This is a smaller sized hardcover book with 202 pages plus several pages of advertisements in the back. The book is in Very Good condition with original brown cloth covers (with stamped designs) and gold lettering on the spine. The pages are all clean with no chips or tears - the pages show some occasional foxing and the prior owner signed their name on the first endpaper. The binding is strong and solid with all pages and the covers firmly attached. The covers show a hint of edgewear - no other signs age. The attractive folding map, by Sidney E. Morse and Samuel Breese, shows the southern part of the territory and is dated 1845. It identifies mines, canals, and railroads.
