This association based in Santa Barbara, California, was one of the earliest motel referral services in the U.S., and managed to garner independent motel and motor inn operators across the country to subscribe and maintain their standards of comfort and courteous service. These illustrated guides prove invaluable in charting roadside architecture across the West, amenities to be found by travelers, and the variety of signage. This guide combines elements of the earlier Photo-mobile Western travel guides, with mileage information, phone numbers, and images of the well-appointed motels. Scattered across the West, these include the Utah Motor Park, Sunset Cottage Court in Pocatello, ID, the Home Motel in Las Vegas, NV, the Craftsman inspired Wa-Wona Court in Corvallis, OR, the Jones Autel in Merced, CA featuring a service station & cottages, Bear Creek Lodge on the Yosemite Highway, and many more. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he work…ed well into the 1950s. Two discharged Marine pilots, Larry J. Blake and Dick Purcell, sign on as airborne policemen for a dictator of banana-republic south sea island and begin fighting over the same girl, Marcia Brandford, before realizing they may be on the wrong side. Marguerite Mamo Clark, better known as Mamo Clark or simply Mamo, was a Hawaiian born actress, and is best known for her debut as a Polynesian girl who marries Clark Gable in the 1935 Academy Award winning film "Mutiny on the Bounty," directed by Frank Lloyd. 8 x 10 inches. Vintage album with approximately 300 reference photographs, a mix of black-and-white and color, from the 1982 horror film. Included with the album are four contact sheets (presenting approximately 120 images), one loose black-and-white reference photograph, and four negative strips housed in individual sleeves, all housed in a p…hotography developer envelope. Single manuscript ink annotation on the front of the album, noting the film title. From the estate of cinematographer John McCoy. Although the balance of the photographs were apparently taken for continuity and set documentation, multiple pages near the end of the album capture cast and crew members on the set. These photographs show crew members setting up scenery and relaxing, actors getting their makeup touched up, playfully posing with props (including quite a few humorous shots with a severed head) between takes, and several large group shots, ostensibly taken on the last day of filming. A Z-budget thriller about a troubled woman who experiences psychic hallucinations of brutal decapitations after moving to a new house with her emotionally distant husband, and begins to suspect the murders are visions of her own future. Photographs, negatives, and contact sheets varying sizes, most between 10 x 8 inches and 5 x 7 inches. Generally Near Fine. Album Very Good plus overall. Thrower, Nightmare USA.
