Thema der Arbeit ist die Silexbearbeitung des Kulturkomplexes Kodzadermen-Gumelnita-Karanovo VI [KGK] der jüngeren balkanischen Kupferzeit [4600-4300 v.Chr.]. Im Mittelpunkt stehen fünf Tells, Lesefunde und Grabfunde NO-Bulgariens, die mit frühkupferzeitlichem Material und Nachbarregionen verglichen werden. Es erfolgen Rohmateriabestimmung und Herkunftsbestimmung, Untersuchung der Klingentechnik, Einteilung der Geräte in 16 Klassen sowie eine synchrone und diachrone Auswertung. In allen Siedlungen wurden aus braungelbem Flint dicke kurze Klingen hergestellt [90%] und je nach Spezialisierung in wechselnden Anteilen zu Kratzern, Klingen und Sicheleinsätzen verarbeitet. Hingegen wurden seltene [10%], in Hebeldrucktechnik hergestellte dünne Klingen von 20-34 cm Länge, deren Verbreitung sich mit der von Graphitkeramik deckt und mit der von Obsidian ausschließt, halbfertig und Flintbeile fertig eingeführt.
