Møller built the shipyard on Odense Canal. But by the 1950s, it was no longer able to meet the demands of modern shipbuilding. A new one was needed and in 1956, a decision was made to build a shipyard at Lindø. It opened on 23 November 1959, and within a couple of years a total new factory town had sprung up just to the north of the small fishing village called Munkebo.
