The binding is in fair condition, worn and with areas of loss. Endpapers cracked along the hinge, but the boards are firmly attached. The first two pages are partly loose, but the rest of the text block is tightly bound, and has bright gilt on all edges. 408 pages. This book is a diary of twenty weeks spent in Munich over the winter of 1855-56. The Baron socialised with the aristocracy extensively. He describes the German character, and gives details about the Bavarian police force and the Diplomatic Corps. He seems to have had a very pleasant time, and though nothing highly dramatic occurs, it is nonetheless a very historically interesting account of the times, and a very rare book.…
