A scholarly monograph on the Verdussen family, the notable Antwerp dynasty of printers and booksellers active from the early modern period through the 19th century. The author traces the development and influence of the house of Verdussen within the cultural and commercial life of Antwerp, placing their activity in the wider context of European print history and book trade networks. The main part of the work is devoted to catalogues issued by various members of the family in 1720, 1732, 1752, 1776, 1781, 1834 and 1856, with bibliographical commentary and notes on the evolution of printing practices and book distribution. The concluding chapter provides an illustrated survey of Verdussen printer's marks, with discussion of iconography, variants and their use in different periods.
