Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book compiles the findings of a study conducted in early twentieth-century California to ascertain the mechanical efficiency and running costs of various water-pumping systems in use at the time. The study's primary focus is on gasoline, electric, and steam-powered pumps, and their respective fuel consumption, power usage, and water-lifting capacity were measured across dozens of pumping plants. The author takes care to describe the equipment setup and methodology of each test in detail, allowing readers to verify the results or replicate the study for their own purposes. In presenting this valuable historical data, the author contributes to our understanding of the evolution of water-pumping technology and provides a glimpse into the energy landscape of early 20th-century California, where innovative solutions were sought to meet the challenges of water scarcity and distribution. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. …
