The general chapters address behaviour and captive living, obtaining and selecting animals, diet and nutritional supplementation, reproduction, the raising of juveniles, health, and taxonomy. Each species account is set out to a fixed template giving scientific and common names, distribution, size, a physical description, vivarium type, a skill-level rating for the keeper, egg-laying habits, and care requirements, with colour photographs throughout. Practical matters treated in the text include enclosure furnishing and planting, basking lamps and fluorescent lighting, temperature and humidity, misting regimes, substrates, calcium and Vitamin D3 supplementation, incubation of eggs, shedding problems, parasites, and the distinction between egg-gluing and non-gluing species. Colour photographs are credited in part to Leann Christenson and to Gurley. Written in English.
