The letter continues, reading in short part: "Portland has a thriving arts community that will respond warmly to your visit. ART/AIDS feels 'An Evening With David Hockney' will draw the attention it needs for a successful fundraiser. If you haven't been here before, we can tell you the northwest offers much in the way of scenery, good food, nice, appreciative people, space, and quiet.
