In particular, we introduce a general methodology for obtaining globally valid equations of motion on configuration manifolds that are Lie groups, homogeneous spaces, and embedded manifolds, thereby avoiding the difficulties associated with coordinate singularities. The material is presented in an approachable fashion by considering concrete configuration manifolds of increasing complexity, which then motivates and naturally leads to the more general formulation that follows. Understanding of the material is enhanced by numerous in-depth examples throughout the book, culminating in non-trivial applications involving multi-body systems. This book is written for a general audience of mathematicians, engineers, and physicists with a basic knowledge of mechanics. Some basic background in differential geometry is helpful, but not essential, as the relevant concepts are introduced in the book, thereby making the material accessible to a broad audience, and suitable for either self-study or as the basis for a graduate course in applied mathematics, engineering, or physics.

Wegen ihrer analytisch-vergleichenden Deskriptionen von Bildungsphänomenen gehà rt diese Untersuchung gleichermaÃen in das Themengebiet der Vergleichenden Erziehungswissenschaft und in das Feld der internationalen historischen Bildungsforschung. Die durchziehenden Chiffren sind der Transfer und die Rolle der Reform- und Alternativpädagogik im internationalen Kontext. Der Transfer von Bildungskonzepten ist in der Vergleichenden Erziehungswissenschaft eine zentrale Frage. Um Antworten auf diese Frage zu erhalten, sind Forschungen über den Beobachtungsraum hinaus erforderlich. Denn die Zentralfrage des Transfers subsumiert zahlreiche Unterfragen: nach der Ãbertragbarkeit angesichts nationaler oder kultureller Spezifika, nach den gesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen einerseits und den Bildungsverhältnissen andererseits sowie nach autochthoner oder fremd gesteuerter Entwicklung in diesem Prozess. Nicht zuletzt spielen auch Fragen der internationalen Machtverteilung eine bedeutsame Rolle. Im Falle Koreas ist dieser Aspekt besonders komplex: Hier treffen Kolonialpädagogik - einer nichtwestlichen Kolonialmacht -, Pädagogik der "Dritten Welt" oder der "Entwicklungsländer" sowie ein rasanter Modernisierungsprozess oft unvermittelt aufeinander. Diese vielschichtige Problematik bedarf klarer Schwerpunktsetzungen. Die Verfasserin wählt als Anknüpfungspunkt den derzeitigen Aufschwung der südkoreanischen Alternativpädagogik, deren Theorien und Praxen sich groÃenteils auf reformpädagogische Ansätze stützen. Allerdings zeigen sich Verschiebungen, nicht nur in der zeitlichen Abfolge der Aneignung, sondern auch bei ihrer inhaltlichen und begrifflichen Ausgestaltung. Diese lassen sich nur erfassen durch eine umfassende Darstellung und Analyse der Rezeption und der unterschiedlichen Transferwege - ein Komplex, den die Verfasserin mit historischen und systematischen Abgrenzungen bearbeitet.
