Paris, 15 A…oût 1906 Madame J'ai appris que vous étiez de retour à Paris et avant d'aller vous offrir mes hommages je me permets vous adresser le deuxième volume . qui parait cette semaine - de mon Histoire des Membres de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts. C'est la reproduction en un seul tome, à quelques corrections près, des fascicules gris que vous avez reçus déjà, les corrections eurent été certainement plus nombreuses si mon cher correcteur d'autrefois eut été encore là pour me les proposer. A mon ouvrage je joins un article paru dans le Soir sous mon pseudonyme - anagramme "Abel Brousseit" et où, parlant de Mr Daumet [Honoré Daumet, 1826-1911, Architecte], j'ai été heureux de faire un important emprunt au beau discours de réception de M. Guillaume le plan . et que M. Daumet n'a connu - que par mon article - cet éloge de sa reconstruction de Chantilly: "Vous m'apprenez, a t il pris la peine de m'écrire, que mon illustre confrère M. Eugène Guillaume [1822-1905, Statuaire] avait bien voulu apprécier aussi avec son autorité magistrale . que j'avais pu faire pour mettre en oeuvre les idées si claires, si nettement arretées de Mgr le Duc d'Aumale [Henri d'Orléans, 1822-1897]. Il m'a donc échappé de recevoir mon trop aimable ami; vous créez un remords; mais il était indulgent en tout et savait quelle estime j'avais pour ses très . qualités et quelle était mon affection pour lui et ses amis". Veuillez, Madame agréer mes respectueux hommages et offrir mon souvenir à Mademoiselle Yvonne, à votre cher fils, sans oublier les Autres "Membres de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts". Les Archives est une des rare revues de ce genre qui avec beaucoup de peine a su maintenir sa publication pendant la première guerre mondiale .
