Strong toning to edg…es with interior text leaves affected likewise but with toning diminishing inward from margins (paper stock utilized by printer affected by "economy standards," i.e. wartime-period rationing regulation). Light toning to endpapers; novelist Nancy Hallinan's name handwritten in green ink at top of front free endpaper recto with additional notation in the same green ink handwriting "from Hal Christmas-1945" at bottom of page. Interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A good copy. Her papers are held by Boston University's Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center.

Band 28 - Aufwendig produzierte Monographie auf aktuellem wissenschaftlichem Niveau zu den relativ späten Sicherungsarbeiten an der Burg Zug, in welcher seit 1982 das kulturhistorische Museum untergebracht ist. - "Der Restaurierung und dem Umbau der Burg ab dem Jahre 1977 sind umfangreiche Planungs- und Projektierungsarbeiten vorausgegangen. [.] Der Burghügel wurde erstmals im Jahre 1967 archäologisch untersucht. Damals wurde [.] eine vom Stadtarchitekten John Witmer auf eigene Faust begonnene Sondiergrabung fortgesetzt. Ihr folgte 1979 [.] eine Flächengrabung. Weiter führte der Grabungstechniker Toni Hofmann [.] in der Zeit zwischen 1974 und 1982 baugeschichtliche Untersuchungen durch [.]. Diese fanden unter teilweise schwierigen Umständen in Begleitung der Umbau- und Renovationsarbeiten statt. All diese Forschungen liessen sehr schnell eine grosse kulturhistorische Bedeutung der Burg erkennen. Dennoch liess die zügige Auswertung der Grabungen und der Bauuntersuchungen noch lange auf sich warten. Der enorme Bauboom im wirtschaftlich prosperierenden Zug zwang die Kantonsarchäologie, ihre Kräfte und Finanzen für zahlreiche andere Rettungsuntersuchungen zu reservieren. [.] Erst 1996 [.] war es möglich, die umfangreichen Dokumentationen von mehreren Grabungs- und Bauforschungsetappen systematisch zu sichten, zu ordnen, zu vervollständigen und zur Archivreife zu bringen. Gleichzeitig konnte auch endlich die Auswertung des archivarischen wie auch des archäologischen Materials mit dem Ziel einer Publikation an die Hand genommen werden. [.] Ziel war es, zum 20-Jahr-Jubiläum des Museums in der Burg ein schönes und breit interessierendes Buch über die Burg in Zug mit reicher Bildausstattung und einem gut lesbaren Text zu veröffentlichen, das gleichzeitig als wissenschaftliches Referenzwerk auch den fachlichen Anforderungen genügt."
