Vintage reference photograph from the 1945 British film, showing actors Flora Robson and Francis L. Sullivan in costume as Ftatateeta and Pothinus, respectively. Printed mimeo snipe and Eagle-Lion stamp on the verso, as well as the stamp of photographer Wilfrid Newton. Based on George Bernard Shaw's 1901 play, about an aging Julius Caesar's attempts to resolve a long-held conflict between princess Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy. One of the most expensive productions of its time, although the production suffered from both wartime delays and the poor mental health of lead actress Vivien Leigh. Set in Alexandria. 9.75 x 7.5 inches. Near Fine.
