Paper covers show… light overall toning, mild edge wear, and small areas of soiling, with a 1" semi-circular stain along the bottom edge of the front cover, and recurring faintly at the bottom edge of interior pages. Interior pages lightly age toned but unmarked. Sheet music for "Take a Lesson from the Lark," composed by Ralph Rainger with lyrics by Leo Robin for the 1934 Paramount musical Shoot the Works. The pictorial front cover in shades of blue, gray, and black features star inside a circle with a photo of bandleader Ben Bernie, surrounded by stylized illustrations of a dance orchestra. The lower portion of the cover includes inset star-shaped photographic portraits of featured cast members Dorothy Dell, Jack Oakie, Alison Skipworth, and Roscoe Karns. The back page contains a black-and-white photograph of Ben Bernie performing with his orchestra, accompanied by a printed biographical sketch outlining his early musical training, career development as a violinist and bandleader, touring history, radio and broadcasting work, and his signing with Paramount Pictures in 1934. Sheet music for 'Blue Hawaii', written by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger in 1937 for the film 'Waikiki Wedding', starring Bing Crosby a…nd Shirley Ross. Crosby recorded the song that year; Billy Vaughn was second to record it, twenty years later in 1957. In rapid succession, such other luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and others covered it. Vaughn is on the cover of this edition. Tall quarto, 6 pages including covers, as numbered. Very Good, but very close to Near Fine; just very little of the inevitable age-toning to the whites, a little soil at the top right corner and on rear cover (scans), and very short slits just starting at each spine end. Otherwise, without flaw. No labels, signatures, price stickers or tears. A piece of music history. Scarce in this condition. See scans. Leph2.
