Este libro nace en el marco del proyecto Retos comunicativos de las instituciones andaluzas: configuración de la imagen social de la mujer en Andalucía (interfaz instituciones-discurso- ciudadanía) REDIG (Ref. P20_00554), integrado por personas en cuya trayectoria se aúnan, por un lado, su inquietud investigadora en el mundo de la comunicación en general, y su ?extrañeza? porque, a estas alturas del siglo XXI, aún existan sesgos sexistas en discursos como el de las instituciones, cualquiera que sea su naturaleza, que precisamente han de velar por el logro, desgraciadamente aún lejos, de la igualdad real y efectiva entre hombres y mujeres. Se trata de una obra cuyo centro de gravedad está en la representación que, de la mujer en general, y de las mujeres andaluzas en particular, se hace en distintos tipos discursivos: institucionales, publicitarios, políticos, mediatizados en redes sociales, e, incluso, artísticos. La obra tiene una característica necesaria en cualquier producto científico actual: transversalidad. Esta cualidad se vuelve aun más necesaria si el objeto central de estudio es la configuración de la imagen de la mujer en el discurso cualquiera que sea su tipología. Aborda este aspecto sociocomunicativo con la revisión de todos los niveles implicados: desde el lingüístico, el comunicativo, el sociocultural o el psicosocial, en la más amplia variedad de formatos discursivos posibles. Todos ellos hacen que, en el imaginario social creado, se fijen unos presupuestos que, hoy más que nunca, han de ser desenmascarados, si queremos que aquello que todos predicamos y buscamos, la igualdad efectiva en todos los ámbitos de la existencia, sea una realidad, y no, simplemente, una utopía que se alarga en el tiempo, llegando a formar parte solo de un pensamiento o de una ideología. La obra se compone de una serie de trabajos realizados por investigadoras e investigadores especialistas en las materias tratadas.
