Greta Garbo is Helga Ohlin, a woman of illegitimate birth attempting to overcome her cruel and abusive life, forced into the life of a kept woman under the name Susan Lenox, all while trying to find happiness with architect Rodney Spencer, played by Clark Gable, who once offered her kindness and shelter. Shot on location in Sequoia National Park, California.
