Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Hardback. Small 4to. 9 by 7 inches. pp 111. Illustrated with frontispiece (sl foxed tissue guard) and six black and white drawings. Original publisher's yellow cloth with illustrations in green of young women bearing leafy branches to the front panel and illustrated rear panel (reminiscent of Kate Greenaway). "Verse Fancies" is a poetry collection by Edward Levetus, with accompanying illustrations created by his sister, Celia Levetus. The illustrations within the book, such as the one for the poem "Love in Ambush," reflect the influence of the Aesthetic Movement, with detailed depictions of nature, such as a peacock. The book is considered a scarce example of Celia Levetus's work as an illustrator, who trained at The Birmingham School of Art, which was heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. She stopped illustrating professionally after her marriage in 1902. Very good indeed. Excellent condition. Neat insc on fep 'To Dear Ruth Daiches from her friends Vivian, Thade and Thea Pilichowski.London March 18th 1922.'.
