Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 31 pp. plus 25 B/W plates. Catalogue of an exhibition from September to October, 1972 at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Usual ex-library markings. Price tag scars at lower front spine and upper front corner. "The Camden Town group dominated English painting in the years before…the First World War. Maxwell Gordon Lightfoot of Liverpool was a member of this avant-garde group. He was also the most significant artist to have emerged from the independent Sandon Studios Society painting classes in Liverpool. Tragically the brilliant career forecast for him by fellow artists and critics was cut short through private unhappiness. Visitors will have seen four of his oil paintings in the permanent collection since the early 1950s. Recently we have been fortunate in acquiring a representative series of his drawings and watercolors from his sister, Miss G. M. Lightfoot. Together with paintings and drawings generously lent by other members of the family and descendants of his early patrons, these works will, we feel, reveal the artist's potential, in this first one man exhibition. They should confirm his right to a niche in the history of English painting." - preface by Timothy Stevens.
