Eine Einführung in das 'Reich der Pilze' und zusammenfassende Anmerkungen über deren Ökologie, Mykotoxinbildung und die Problematik der Taxonomie runden den Inhalt ab. Die eigentliche Taxonomie wird - im Interesse der Anwendbarkeit - aufs Wesentliche beschränkt. Diese 4. Auflage von 'Schimmelpilze und deren Bestimmung' wurde vollständig überarbeitet und erweitert, wobei aber an der Praxisbezogenheit nichts geändert wurde. Im Kapitel über gesundheitliche Aspekte von Pilzen wird auch auf Mykosen kurz eingegangen. Die häufigsten Gattungen der Dermatophyten wurden neu im Bestimmungsschlüssel und Gattungsverzeichnis aufgenommen, ebenso wurde die Literatur aktualisiert. Kleinere Textanpassungen sowie eine veränderte Reihenfolge der Kapitel dienen der besseren Lesbarkeit. Dieses Buch wendet sich an Biologiestudenten, Labortechniker und Bausachverständige sowie interessierte Laien.
