Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good-. First Edition. (no dust jacket) [a decent enough copy, moderately worn with some soiling to the bottom of the text block; there's also a weird bit of damage to the upper left corner of the rear pastedown, where it appears that some previous owner had crudely cut away a bookseller's ticket, unfortunately in a way that tore the cloth a bit and exposed about an inch of the top edge of the rear board, adjacent to the spine (the integrity of the binding, however, has not been compromised)]. An Irish-in-America family saga, about a family who rose to success in the New York business world over the period from the 1850s to the early 1930s, but whose dynasty is eventually brought low by intrafamily rifts and rivalries. Luther (1872-1951) was a prolific novelist and magazine-fiction writer; in addition to this straight novel, he also collaborated with Ms. Ford on a couple of Los Angeles-set mystery tales.
