READING COPY - A undated good hardcover in somewhat soiled brown boards bumped/rubbed to the spine ends/corners, a bookplate (from West Bridgend School dated 1943) affixed to the front paste-down, foxed endpapers and quite tanned pages tanned/lightly foxed to the text-block edges. Carefully packaged and despatched within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.; 60x40.

Original Cloth. Condizione: Good. Lumley, Savile (illustratore). First Edition. Green boards with brown lettering and decorations to the spine and brown text boxes for title and author's name on the front panel. Damp staining to the bottom right corner of the rear panel and across the bottom of the spine. The rear panel also has six small dark stains and a few other light marks in places. Some denting, rubbing and discolouration to the top and bottom edges of the boards. Light marking to page edges. Prize label from Bigton Public School in Shetland to the front free endpaper - the recipient was my mother. The pages have a few light marks but are generally clean and unmarked. Colour frontispiece by Savile Lumley. Believed to be a first printing but no publication date is given. No jacket.

This book is bound in tan boards with a bright full-page clean & unmarked plate on the front cover of a girl & a dog with a decorative spine & bright orange letters on the spine & front cover. There is very, very light wear on the edges. There is a previous owner's ink dedication on the front endpaper, dated 1928. The contents are clean, bright & unmarked, the binding is tight. Colour frontispiece. On the last page it states: "Printed in Great Britain at the Press of the Publishers/ I28".
