The book was written by Irving Kolodin, Music Critic for the New York Sun, and has an Introduction by Soprano Lily Pons, who said the fol…lowing :"When I sing the music of The Queen of the Night in 'The Magic Flute'. - or Despina in 'Cosi fan tutte', I feel I am singing music which, in its own way, approaches the very heights of musical genius." The book was published by The Four Corners Press in New York in paperback format. This is the First Edition, so identified on the verso of the title page. As well as a discography, the book contains a brief discussion of Mozart's life and music. Wolfgang Amadeu Mozart stood alone in his youthful genius as a composer of sublime Genius. He is one of the world's musical immortals. Paperback format; 94 pages ; 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"; color pictorial stiff card stock wraps, stapled and glued. CONDITION -- GOOD ONLY -- This is a previously owned book that shows wear, but essentially remains clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR -- Spine has creasing, and is somewhat darkened. Front cover has moderate surface rub and smudging; the front cover's top fore-edge corner has a diagonal crease; the rear cover has moderate surface rub and a scratch with a bit of abrasion near the spine fold; the cover corner tips are softly bumped; the text-block edges are toned, else clear. BINDING -- Solid INTERIOR -- The paper throughout is lightly toned; there are scattered small edge smudges - else the interior is clean and free of marking. No writing, no signatures.
