Prima edizione

Illustrated pale green boards w/gilt spine lettering/VG; strong & sound w/rubs to edges, corner tips and surfaces; showing light discoloration. DJ/None as Issued. Slip-case/None. Maps to endpapers. American historian, Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison (1887 - 1976) authored several works on maritime history. Winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, one of which was for "Admiral of the Ocean Sea: A Life of Christopher Columbus" (1942), which was followed by a briefer biography, "Christopher Columbus, Marine (1955). Researching for these two books, Morison found trustworthy translations of primary source materials were scant, and therefore made translations of his own or had new ones made. This volume is an anthology of selected from those translations, and are, for the sake scholarship integrity, intentionally literal. The documents begin those establishing Columbus' birth date through the four voyages mades. Illustrated with map and woodcuts, with a convenient Chronology. Excellent primary resource. Strong copy less slip-case.
