Hardcover. Condizione: Collectible - SIGNED. Limited. nFINE/fair slipcase [Slipcase scarce!]. Grey boards gold titling on spine. SIGNED by POLITICAL NOTABLE, author in his own right, LINCOLN STEFFENS, to whom John Reed dedicated this book. Ink Signed w/ inscription by Steffens on 2nd free end paper - [Not the signed in stone copy below frontis picture. Frontis image of Steffens with in-stone script. The bibliographic literature cites that this printing was limited to 500 copies, "made into a book for the delight of a few friends" (so stated on rear colophon page) by Frederick C Bursch [publisher]. Reed was one of the best known left-wing journalists of the early 20th century. Steffens as a renowned journalist, is noted for his contacts with Lenin and Trotsky. Steffens was a writer for the New York Evening Post, editor of McClure's Magazine. He was known for investigating government corruption. This book is already an exceptionally rare piece, made more so having Lincoln Steffens autograph in it, dated "March 17, 1913." Slipcase is tight - missing external title spine. Book is internally FINE - full bright gold titling on cover and spine - but there is some mild raised patterning along front board right and bottom edges.
