Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the acceleration of the Moon's motion, a phenomenon tied to Earth's changing rotation. Laplace had proposed that this acceleration was solely due to the diminishing eccentricity of Earth's orbit, but the author's research suggests that the Moon's displacement due to the movement of the ecliptic plane also contributes to this acceleration. The author's work on this topic has not only influenced contemporary theories of lunar motion but also has implications for the precession and nutation of the Earth's axis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
