Internally very good; the text blocks show minor, light age-appropriate foxing mostly restricted to the preliminary leaves and plate margins, but pages remain supple and entirely readable. This set bears fascinating historic library provenance marks: the title page and title-page verso of both volumes feature a striking capital 'W' stamped in red ink over a horizontal figure '1' in black ink, with the title-page stamp partially running over the word 'History'. Features the subsequent plain bookplate of John Morgan to the front pastedowns. A highly secure, soundly preserved historical archive tracking the planting of early American Methodism.

The front endpaper is just a little loose at the top. There is a minor dry stain at the top of the second endpaper and the frontispiece. There are a couple of signatures on the front endpaper with one being in pencil and one in ink. There is a really nice gift inscription written in ink from 18880 on the second front endpaper.
