Ce très bel exemplaire est imprimé sur papier vergé. Il est d'une exceptionnelle fraicheur. Comporte un portrait de Jean de Meung et trois figures gravées par Patas et Demonchy d'après Charles Monnet. Rare édition, non signalée par Caillet, répartie en cinq volumes et publiée l'an VII de la République. La meilleure édition du Roman de la Rose établie par le bibliophile médiéviste Dominique Martin Méon (voir le catalogue de la vente de sa bibliothèque dispersée à Paris en 1803) qui conservera, pour le volume quatrième, une anthologie de textes alchimiques difficilement accessibles à l'époque : Le Codicille de Maistre Jean de Meung. Le Testament du même. Les Remontrances de Nature ou l'Alchymiste errant. La response de l'Alchymiste à Nature. Testament attribué à Arnauld de Villeneufve. Le Sommaire philosophique de Nicolas Flamel, La Fontaine des Amoureux de Science, La Ballade du Secret des Philosophes. Petit traicté d'alchymie, intitulé Le sommaire Philosophique de Nicolas Flamel.
