Cloth. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good +. B&W photo (illustratore). Fourth Printing. 8vo, blue cloth with orange lettering on spine and front cover, archival polyester-protected pictorial dust jacket (unclipped) with arial view of train robbers, illustrated with B&W glossy photos of the James Bros. and Cole Younger, ix, [x] + 446 pages. Robertus Love (1867-1930) was a Missouri-born American journalist and author. His career included virtually every duty connected with the writing side of newspapers and took him on assignments from coast to coast. He was the author of three books, Poems All the Way from Pike (1904), The Wild West: Log of a Cowboy, and The Rise and Fall of Jesse James (1926), first printed in the Post-Dispatch. This latter work, a running story of Missouri banditry, resulted from his life-long interest in Mid-Western outlaws. Note: Dj's title, "The Life and Times of Jesse James," differs from the title page "The Rise and Fall of Jesse James," but we don't believe this dj has been "married" to this copy from a different edition. EXCELLENT CONTENT! A solid, clean copy with light uniformly age-toned paper in a dynamic unclipped dust jacket which has light soil, minimal fading, and slight edgewear.

Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. See Six-Guns 1366 : 'Probably the most reliable book written about Jesse James to that date. Like most biographers, the author is sympathetic with his subject. He places much of the biographers, the author is sympathetic with his subject. He places much of the blame on the Jame's boys' outlawry upon Pinkerton agents and their persecutions. He also repeats the fable about Jesse helping the impoverished widow hounded by the tyrannical landlord. The book contains a chapter on the Union Pacific robbery at Big Springs as the argument against the common belief that Frank and Jesse were connected with this robbery. His account of this event is fairly accurate except that he five Joel Collins the first name Jim. He states that Jesse "invented train robbing' and that, 'the first railway train holdup that ever happened has been charged to the James-Younger group.' The Renos were first to rob a train. He also sates that Ed Kelly, the killer of Bob Ford, was killed in a sidewalk fight with a town marshal in Texas. He was killed by a city policeman in Oklahoma City." This cloth is green and the lettering on the spine is gilt that has faded but is legible. The corners and the spine are rubbed. The inside front cover and the front flyleaf have the remains of something that had been attached. This is a good reading account and priced accordingly. Not Signed.
