This book is a look at the motivations behind the murder of Michel Servetus, a Spanish theologian burned at the stake in Geneva in 1553 following a dispute with the famous protestant reformer John Calvin. The author examines the religious and political climate of the time, arguing that Servetus's death was a product of the intolerance and violence that was prevalent in 16th-century Europe. But the book does more than just retell the story of Servetus's death. It also provides a broader context, discussing the development of religious thought in the Protestant Reformation and the rise of Calvinism. The author argues that Servetus was not simply a heretic, but a visionary thinker whose ideas were ahead of his time. The book concludes by reflecting on the significance of Servetus's death, arguing that it was a turning point in the history of religious freedom. Pere Hyacinthe (1827 - 1912) was a French preacher who taught philosophy and theology at Avignon and Nantes, gathering enthusiastic audiences to the Madeleine and Notre Dame in Paris. He boldly denounced abuses in the Church, and was excommunicated (1869). He married in 1872, and continued to preach, protesting against the Infallibility Dogma. In 1879 he founded a Gallican Catholic Church in Paris. His writings include Mon Testament, ma protestation (1873).

This book is an incisive exploration of the political landscape in France, delving into the motives and ideas that shape its current divisions. The author contends that certain writers have exploited the nation's political upheaval to promote their own agendas, fueling partisan sentiments and hindering reconciliation. Through a series of letters, the author astutely examines the writings of influential figures, exposing the self-serving and deceptive nature of their arguments. By exposing the true intentions of these individuals, the book aims to dismantle their influence and pave the way for a more unified and harmonious society.
