Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the history of Galicia and discusses a Ukrainian proposal for dividing the Austrian province into eastern and western halves, effectively creating a division between Ukrainian and Polish peoples. To fully grasp the author's arguments, the narrative begins with an examination of how Galicia came into Austrian hands. The author then examines failed attempts to divide the province in 1847-1850, movements for and against Ukrainian action during this time period, and the creation of the Reichsrat, Austria's parliament, which favored Polish autonomy over Ukrainian interests. This book will appeal to anyone interested in the complicated ethnic history of the Galicia region, which continues to be a locus of tension between Ukraine and Poland today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
